115 challans issued for encroachments in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: The enforcement wing of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has removed encroachments from Sector 22. During the drive, 115 challans were issued to the violators. The enforcement team removed and seized readymade garments, counters, stands and cylinders from Shastri Market and Rehri-phari from outer area of Sector 22.
The drive was carried out by seven sub inspectors of enforcement wing of the corporation.
Interestingly in December many anti-encroachments drive were held by the MC. The reason for this was that in the MC house meeting issues related to violations were raised and many councillors objected to the working of the enforcement wing.
Councillors alleged that enforcement wing was doing nothing to remove the violations and in every market of the different sectors encroachments were clearly seen. At many places pavements had been covered by the shopkeepers thus making it difficult for people to move in the corridors of the market.
